Mansion Attic Set Design for Witches of East End
TV Series - 2013–2014
Production Design By: Rachel O’Toole
The Mansion Attic set was built for Season 2. A richly detailed set blending medieval architecture with television production design, inspired by centuries-old cathedrals.
Featuring heavy timber beams, textured stone walls, and a vaulted ceiling with slate shingles—all crafted using faux finishes, the set was designed to deliver historical authenticity while remaining lightweight, modular, and production-friendly. The architectural language draws heavily from Gothic influences, with the Notre-Dame Cathedral bell tower serving as a key visual reference.
The result is a dramatic and immersive environment that enhances storytelling through texture, scale, and atmosphere, while meeting the technical requirements of episodic television production. Careful attention was given to material illusion, structural detailing, and camera composition to ensure realism on screen.
This project highlights expertise in film and television set design, faux finish techniques, scenic construction, and historically inspired environments, delivering a visually compelling space that bridges fantasy and architectural realism.

Heavy beams, stone walls and a vaulted ceiling with slate shingles [all faux] gave this appearance of being part of a old 13th Century castle or Cathedral. In fact the Notre Damn Bell Tower was part of the reference material for this set.
