LAPD Offices – Almost Human Set Design
Futuristic Police Environment for a Sci-Fi Television Series
A large-scale, all-glass LAPD office set designed for the sci-fi series Almost Human, combining transparency, reflection control, and cinematic functionality.
This project features the set design of a futuristic LAPD office created for the television series Almost Human, a sci-fi crime drama set in a technologically advanced Los Angeles. The design supports a narrative world where human officers are paired with android partners, requiring a visual language that blends realism with forward-looking technology.
Spanning approximately 7,000 square feet, the set is defined by its extensive use of glass, creating an open and reflective environment. To maintain full control for filming, all glass panels were engineered to pivot (gimbal), allowing reflections to be adjusted and eliminated from camera angles.
The result is a highly technical and adaptable space that balances cinematic requirements with a sleek, futuristic aesthetic—supporting both storytelling and complex camera movement.
Production Design: Ian D. Thomas
At just under 7000sqft. this is probably the largest ‘All Glass’ set I’ve Set Designed. All glass panels “gimbal” (pivot around a center point to off-set mirroring back into the camera).
